AI Rendering for Archicad on Mac (Apple Silicon & Intel)

Archicad has always been popular on Mac, but rendering has often meant fighting for GPU power. AI rendering in the cloud changes that.

Why Rendering on a Mac Has Been Awkward

Archicad runs well on Mac, and plenty of practices work entirely on MacBooks and iMacs. Rendering has been the sticking point. Traditional real-time renderers lean heavily on the graphics card, and some popular ones have historically been Windows-first or offered fewer features on macOS. Even where a tool runs on Mac, large scenes on a laptop can be slow to set up and slow to render.

The result is a familiar workaround: a Windows machine in the corner just for visualisation, or outsourcing renders entirely.

How AI Rendering Changes the Picture

AI rendering moves the heavy work off your machine. Instead of computing light and materials locally, an AI rendering tool sends your 3D view to a cloud image model and gets a finished image back. Your Mac only has to run Archicad.

That means a MacBook Air renders as quickly as a high-end workstation, there's no scene to export, and battery life and fan noise stop being a concern.

Your AI Rendering Options on Mac

Linespire Reflect

Linespire Reflect is a native Archicad add-on that runs on macOS for Archicad 26 to 30, as a universal build for both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs, signed and notarised by Apple. It captures your 3D view inside Archicad and renders it with Google's Nano Banana Pro, with optional upscaling to 4K and Animate for short video clips. It works on perpetual and subscription licences, and the Mac and Windows versions share the same account and credits.

Archicad's built-in AI Visualizer

Graphisoft lists the AI Visualizer for both Windows and Mac. The updated version in Archicad 30 offers Nano Banana Pro among other engines, on the Studio, Collaborate, and Max subscription plans, using a pool of AI credits shared with Graphisoft's other AI features. See our comparison for how the two differ.

General AI image apps

Browser-based AI image tools work on any Mac, but they mean exporting a screenshot, uploading it, and bringing the result back, and they aren't tuned for architectural geometry.

Installing an Archicad Add-On on Mac

Mac add-ons for Archicad come as a .bundle rather than the Windows .apx. Quit Archicad, copy the bundle for your Archicad version into /Applications/GRAPHISOFT/Archicad ##/Add-Ons (in Finder, Cmd+Shift+G and paste the path), then relaunch Archicad and check the add-on is enabled under Options > Add-On Manager. Our installation guide covers the rest.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does Linespire Reflect work on Mac?

Yes. Linespire Reflect runs on macOS for Archicad 26 to 30, on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs. The add-on is signed and notarised by Apple.

Do I need a powerful Mac for AI rendering?

No. AI renders are generated in the cloud, so a MacBook Air renders as fast as a Mac Studio. You only need Archicad and an internet connection.

Does Archicad's built-in AI Visualizer work on Mac?

Yes. Graphisoft lists the AI Visualizer for both Windows and Mac. The updated version requires Archicad 30 on a Studio, Collaborate, or Max subscription.
